The Washington State Capitol building is located in Olympia, WA. My favorite time of year to photograph it is in the spring.

Week 10 of 52: Crossing the North Cascades

Crossing Highway 20 from I-5 east you can encounter some terrific scenes...lakes, rivers, and mountains. Wildlife is plentiful...on one trip I photographed elk, deer, moose, black bear, coyotes, and bald eagles to list a few. Here are a few highlights...

Week 9 of 52: Northwest Trek

Northwest Trek is a 725-acre park has a little bit of everything: lakes, trails, meadows and plenty of animals. Northwest Trek is home to more than 200 North American animals.

You can expect to see bighorn sheep, deer, Roosevelt elk, woodland caribou, mountain goats, bison and more up close from comfortable tram while touring the free-roaming area. Walk forested pathways to view grizzlies, black bears, wolves, bobcats, lynx, cougars, owls, eagles and wetland animals in beautiful natural exhibits. These are some of the pictures I have taken while visiting Northwest Trek.

Week 8 of 52: Franklin Falls

Franklin Falls is a 70 ft beauty located just off I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass. It is about a 1 mile hike from the parking area near Denny Creek Campground. It is an easy-moderate hike that is worth the effort. In the spring and summer it is possible to stand at the base of the falls.

Week 7 of 52: Fall at Lake Wenatchee, Nason Creek

The Lake Wenatchee and Nason creek area are a photographers dream in the fall. They both are located across the Stevens Pass area off of Hwy 2.

Week 6 of 52: Mt St Helens

Another terrific location in WA is Mt St Helens. After the 1980 eruption much of the area was devastated....but as you can see some areas have recovered and others seem like they may never recover.

week 5 of 52: Ruby Beach

Ruby Beach is located along the Washington coast about an hour north of Ocean Shores. It is an amazing beach with stunning sunsets....Here are some on the shots I have captured while visiting. A relatively short walk gets you to the beach.
